The Politics of Destruction: When They Can’t Win on Truth, They Attack You and Your Family

By Paul D. Diaz, EA, MBA

Candidate for Winter Springs City Commissioner

Why Rushing a City Manager Vote Is a Disservice to Winter Springs

Let’s get real, folks. There’s a man in our community who’s determined to tear me down, brick by brick, not because of anything I’ve done wrong, but because he’s scared of the truth, my candidacy, and what I represent. This isn’t politics as usual; this is personal. This is a smear campaign straight out of the playbook of every authoritarian thug who can’t handle a fair fight.

This guy runs the largest Facebook group in Winter Springs like a tin-pot dictator. If you disagree with him, you’re done. Blocked. Silenced. It’s the kind of behavior you’d expect from some backwater regime, not from someone who claims to care about our community. But here we are.

Now, let me lay it out plain: this man and his crew—yeah, the fake accounts, the anonymous trolls—are working hand-in-glove with my opponent’s wife. Don’t let the smile and sweet words fool you. This is a coordinated effort to destroy me, my family, my business, and my future.

They can’t beat me with ideas or vision, so what do they do? They dig into my past like vultures, spreading half-truths about old tax issues that were solved decades ago. They’re so desperate, even making stuff up, and they’ve got the nerve to call it a “scorched earth” campaign. And you know what? I’ve got the receipts—screenshots of him saying he’ll tell everyone I’m a fraud. They put it out there for everyone to see.

The Politics of Destruction Part II

This Is the Playbook of Cowards.

Let’s be honest—this isn’t about politics anymore. This is about character. This is about a man so bitter from his past political failures that he’s determined to scorch anyone in his way. He ran for mayor and lost badly. Instead of bowing out gracefully, he’s become the attack dog for a failing campaign that can’t get by on its own merits.

He wants to scorch the earth? Fine. Let’s burn down his lies. | The Politics of Destruction Part II by Paul Diaz Winter Springs

This guy’s tactics belong to some authoritarian dictatorship, not Winter Springs. He has control of the largest Facebook group and runs it like his own fiefdom. If you step out of line, you’re out. No room for debate, no room for dissent—just pure control. It’s not democracy; it’s tyranny.

And let’s not ignore the fact that his partner-in-crime is none other than a fake account linked to my opponent’s wife. Talk about dirty politics. While I’m out here discussing improving our city’s future, they’re playing these cowardly games behind the scenes. This is who they are. And if they go this low now, imagine what they’ll do if they think they can grab more power.

But here’s the thing—when people like this come after you, they tell you something important: they’re scared. They’re scared of someone who isn’t afraid to stand up, tell the truth, and fight for this community.

Why Me? Because They Can’t Stand What I Represent. | The Politics of Destruction Part II

Look, I’ve got nothing to hide. I’m running because I believe Winter Springs deserves better. I’ve got the qualifications, the vision, and the integrity. I don’t need to sling mud because I’ve got ideas. I don’t need to create fake accounts to win because I’ve got the support of real people in this city.

What do they have? A scorched-earth strategy to burn me down. Well, guess what? The people of Winter Springs see through it. They know a hit job when they see one. And they’re not buying it.

They want someone willing to fight for them, someone who isn’t going to get dragged down in the gutter by a bunch of desperate smear artists. They want someone who will fight for fiscal responsibility, innovative infrastructure, and a community that isn’t run by the loudest voice on Facebook but by common sense.

I’ll Stand Tall, Even While They Try to Tear Me Down. | Paul Diaz Winter Springs

They’ve thrown everything at me—dredging up old tax issues from 25 years ago that were resolved, attacking my business, my family, and my heritage. But I’m still here. Why? Because I’m fighting for you.

Here’s the truth: these guys are so obsessed with power that they’ve forgotten what public service is supposed to be about. They don’t care about the future of Winter Springs—they only care about their own little circle. And if that means tearing down a Hispanic businessman who’s worked his entire life to get where he is, then so be it.

But I believe in this community. I believe in what we can do together. And I’m not going to let a small, bitter group of people dictate the future of Winter Springs.

So, yeah, he can keep his scorched-earth tactics. I’ll keep the truth, the facts, and the support of people who care about this city. And that, my friends, is how we’ll win—not by sinking to their level but by rising above it.
